Jan 4-11, 2025  Casa de Campo Hosteria    Alumine, Argentina         $5500 per angler (7nights,6 full days)

Set off a dirt road and up the hill sits this quiet hosteria (country inn) which is just South of the town of Alumine.  From the lodge there is access to some technical, private spring creeks that harbor large discriminating trout.  If you like sight fishing and being awared with a big trout on a dry after making the perfect cast, this place is for you.  Across the road and a stones throw away from the lodge is the less difficult  Rio Alumine.  This is one of the best dry fly rivers in Patagonia!  You will see fish rising to caddis, may flies and at certain times of year (early Jan) a small green inch worm.  Most all of the rise that are rising are rainbows but the river also has big brown trout that love to inhale big cicada drys.  The last two days of the trip, I plan to float and glamp on the Alumine.  The camps are impressive with comfortable cots, air mattress, and cozy sleeping bags.  The camping crew sets up a bar, dinning tent, shower, and the food prepared over the open fire delicious.  Our last night will be spent in the "happening" town of San Martin.  Have a look at www.setflyfishing.com for more info on Casa de Campo.

Jan 11-18, 2025 Esquel Outfitters -  Esquel, Argentina.                                         $5,500/ person (7nights/6days fishing)

This is one of the top outfitters in Patagonia. I first fished with them in 1998 and they continue to exceed all expectations. The great fishing will begin in Los Alerces National Park where we will float one of 3 great rivers. After a great meal and comfortable night's sleep at El Trebol Lodge we will float the productive and remote/private Rio Chubut for 3 days fishing and 2 nights of comfortable glamping. The dry fly action to browns and rainbows from 12-19 inches is non-stop and the food prepared by the camp staff amazing. After our expedition we go to a 30,000 acre private estancia that gives us over 20 miles of exclusive access to the Rio Guiljaina where again browns and rainbows in the 16-22 inch class love to explode on hoppers. I have several YouTube videos that will show you want Esquel Outfitters is all about. www.esqueloutfitters.com

Jan 18-25, 2025 Chucao Lodge - Lago Yelcho, Chile                   $6,400 per person (7 nights/6.5 days fishing)

What can I say about Chucao other than I love fishing Lago and Rio Yelcho.  The beauty of this place is stunning, the sight fishing superb, and the average size trout the largest in all of Patagonia.  Unlike most fishing programs that require you to get into a pickup to access the fishing areas, at Chucao the boats are waiting right in front of the lodge which sits at the boca (mouth) of the Rio Yelcho.  There are several ways that you might fish the lake.  One is sight fishing to cruising rainbows in the 20 inch class that are sipping small caddis, beetles and ants and another is to throw large attractor dries along with week margins for explosive, dragon fly chasing browns and bows.  You might also try a sinking line and streamer up against the rocky shoreline, searching for a trophy brown.  You might also enjoy floating the river in a MacKensie drift boat.  Here you will have the opportunity to sight fish for suspended rainbows or cast streamers to trophy trout.  Enough said.  Have a look at my Youtube videos of Chucao.
