SET Fly Fishing

Junin is arguably the birthplace of fly fishing for trout in Argentine Patagonia.  There are many famous rivers surrounding this diverse and stunningly beautiful area, including the Chimehuin, Lago Tromen, Collon Cura, Malleo, Allumine and Caleufu.  SET, previously known as Patagonia Drifters, has an incredible opperation run out of several different lodge and hosteria locations.  Spring Creek Lodge is the main / flagship lodge and it sits on the banks of the Chimehuin, only 10 min from the town of Junin.  From here the fishing options are endless, including a variety of 1, 2 or 3 night floating / camping trips.  These expeditions are done right with streamside camps that offer individual sleeping tents, a bar tent, a dinning tent and fantastic (asado style) meals.  The lodge itself just might be the most full service fly fishing lodge on the planet.  The rooms are large and comfortable!  There is even a pastry chef and bartender.  You won't find a more complete and experienced team of guides anywhere.

Aside from Spring Creek Lodge there is Casa de Campo up on the headwaters of the Allumine.  If you enjoy hunting large spring creek trout on foot then this is the place. Full day float trips on the upper Alumine are just minutes away from this ideal location.  In addition to CDC, there is a new lodge called Rakin Lodge which is far off the beaten track in an area rarely fished.  This area was previously fished by SET via helicopter.  This fishing here is so productive they decided to build a fixed lodge.  Another option offered by SET are floating/camping trips down the Limey Medio.  The medio is a monster river with monster trout.  As with all the lodges and outfitters I represent and endorse you will probably learn more by visiting the websites directly but remember that I will give you the full skinny (good-bad-ugly) on each location.
